Steam on the Pacific Coast Railroad. Santa Margarita, CA
It was time again for the Narrow Gauge Meet at the Bittercreek Western Railroad in Arroyo Grande,CA. I got called to work just before I was to leave on Friday morning so I didn't show until midnight that night. Saturday saw a real good turnout of steam power both Narrow Gauge and standard gauge ( the people with standard gauge didn't get the memo about it being a NARROW GAUGE MEET!) So much steam that some of the steamers had to be moved into the yard. Saturday afternoon we were treated with a real treat because the Pacific Coast Railroad envited us up to the Santa Margarita ranch to ride behind some 3 foot gauge equipment. A 4-4-0 american, D&RGW boxcar, Flatcar, and a really neat Central American Caboose. We also got to ride around in the original Disneyland coaches which was awesome. They even fed us a great dinner too. I would really like to thank the crew up there for being so nice to me and everyone that showed up.
The real treat of the day was running the 4-4-0. It felt so good to be back in the seat of full size steam again. Thanks to Jeff Badger and Phil Reader for letting me hang out with you guys.(photo by Peter Moseley)
